Print on paper and in 3D

Print… (⌘P on the Mac, the More menu elsewhere) opens a sheet with the page on one side and the choices on the other, before the system print dialog:

  • Picture: the 3D View exactly as you turned it (when you print from 3D), or the Map.
  • On the picture: Paths and areas, Spots, Slope, Contours.
  • On the Page: Elevation profile, Numbers, Points, All shapes, Spot list and, under a 3D picture, a Location map.

The 3D picture is drawn again on white at print resolution. The page updates as you change the choices, and Save PDF… keeps it as a file instead.

The numbers on the page go further than the panel: a path’s distance, lowest, highest, climb, descent, average grade and steepest 100 m; an area’s area, perimeter, lowest, highest, relief, mean height, mean slope and steepest slope; and the data source.

Print in 3D… (⌥⌘P on the Mac, the More menu elsewhere, or the button beside the height slider in 3D) saves the ground as an STL file for a 3D printer:

  • For an area, the ground inside it, cut to its outline, on a flat base.
  • For a path, the ground around it as a block, with the path raised on it.

Choose the Size of the longest side (100, 150, 200 or 250 mm), the Base (2, 4 or 8 mm), the Height stretch, and whether to Raise the paths; the sheet shows the print’s size in millimetres as you choose. Save STL… writes the file.
